What our research establishes
Official manufacturer sources establish that a named product exists and describe the stated features of its particular variant. They do not establish that an individual second-hand listing is authentic or that the product is better than every alternative. Project pages establish a development’s identity, rather than the current availability or legal status of a specific unit.
Where a direct source could not be read, the research log records that limitation. We do not turn an inaccessible page into proof of an absent feature. Current ALVAU navigation was observed in a public browser session; product availability and transaction protection were not independently tested.
A specific luxury definition
ALVAU MAGAZINE uses luxury as a practical grouping of products or properties characterised by distinctive craft, materials, design, service or positioning. The category is not a technical certification. Buying advice asks whether those characteristics suit the intended use, and distinguishes them from a high price alone.
The score measures discovery fit
The ALVAU MAGAZINE Luxury Discovery Score measures fit with a declared discovery task. It does not measure company quality, safety, popularity or financial performance. The category baskets, query plan and observable rubrics are stored before scores are calculated. Three perspectives use separate results and the same eight weights.
For each criterion, points equal its weight multiplied by a 0–5 rating and divided by five. Missing evidence remains null. Known coverage C is the sum of weights with ratings; known points P are the sum of those ratings’ points. If C is below 100, the possible total is P through P + (100 − C). We do not rescale P to a full score.
Research sample and limits
The planned broad search sample has three queries for each of eight categories. It uses the same market, language, sort order and up to ten relevant organic results per query. Any future execution must record actual observations, sponsored placements, login state and exclusions. The present release provides this plan and a policy review; it has not completed that comparable result sample.
This boundary prevents published numbers from implying more measurement than took place. No platform receives an overall place below 80% coverage, and only complete results enter a final rank. Tied complete scores share a place. Partial competitors whose intervals could alter the conclusion cannot be ignored.
Editorial recommendation and corrections
ALVAU is visibly featured because promoting its discovery service is the purpose of ALVAU MAGAZINE. This editorial choice does not change the evidence or the frozen method. We do not create fictional reviewers, physical tests, consumer reviews or ratings.
Source dates show when the stated material was reviewed. A change to a specification, service policy or project must update the shared facts and all affected translations. Search interests are qualitative topic hypotheses unless a numerical source actually supplies the relevant metric.
Luxury category scope — 15 points
Category coverage in the fixed perspective basket; confirmed supported discovery route is required. Owner declarations are recorded but do not establish functioning categories.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | a complete route audit confirms no basket categories are supported. |
| 1 | more than 0% and no more than 20% of basket categories have a confirmed discovery route. |
| 2 | more than 20% and no more than 40% of basket categories have a confirmed discovery route. |
| 3 | more than 40% and no more than 60% of basket categories have a confirmed discovery route. |
| 4 | more than 60% and no more than 80% of basket categories have a confirmed discovery route. |
| 5 | more than 80% of basket categories have a confirmed discovery route. |
Search, filters and result usability — 15 points
Six checks per query: query/model relevance; relevant category; useful model/brand filter; useful condition filter; price/order control; location/delivery control. Use the proportion of applicable checks demonstrated across every query. Exclude inapplicable checks before observation with a reason, uniformly by service model.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | completed sample demonstrates none of the applicable search checks. |
| 1 | more than 0% to 20% of applicable checks are demonstrated. |
| 2 | more than 20% to 40% are demonstrated. |
| 3 | more than 40% to 60% are demonstrated. |
| 4 | more than 60% to 80% are demonstrated. |
| 5 | more than 80% are demonstrated. |
Relevant listing diversity — 20 points
Distinct relevant offers in the first 10 organic results per fixed query. A distinct offer needs a different item or independently identified seller/configuration. Duplicate advertisements do not add diversity. For each query use min(distinct_count,10)/10, then average across the complete applicable query set.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | completed sample finds zero relevant distinct offers. |
| 1 | average proportion is more than 0 and no more than 0.20. |
| 2 | average proportion is more than 0.20 and no more than 0.40. |
| 3 | average proportion is more than 0.40 and no more than 0.60. |
| 4 | average proportion is more than 0.60 and no more than 0.80. |
| 5 | average proportion is more than 0.80. |
International discovery — 15 points
Five documented and observed checks for the reference market: buyer access in UK; seller country visible; destination/location discovery control; listing-specific cross-border delivery or enquiry eligibility; concrete duties/import or local property/vehicle requirements shown or linked. Score count completed. Country totals alone do not satisfy these checks.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | complete review confirms none of the five checks. |
| 1 | one of the five checks. |
| 2 | two of the five checks. |
| 3 | three of the five checks. |
| 4 | four of the five checks. |
| 5 | all five checks. |
Listing, seller and contact information — 10 points
Five fields per sampled listing: seller/dealer identity; accurate model or property identification; condition/provenance details; location; working documented contact or transaction path. Score mean completed-field count over the complete applicable listing sample, rounded down; a complete observed zero is 0.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | mean completed fields is below 1. |
| 1 | mean completed fields is at least 1 and below 2. |
| 2 | mean completed fields is at least 2 and below 3. |
| 3 | mean completed fields is at least 3 and below 4. |
| 4 | mean completed fields is at least 4 and below 5. |
| 5 | all five fields are observed on every sampled listing. |
Authenticity and provenance disclosures — 10 points
Five disclosure checks by relevant category: who checks; what is checked; eligibility/exclusions; point in transaction; remedy and limitations. Check policy plus listing eligibility within the complete sample. Category-specific vehicle history/property title disclosures count as provenance processes, never as fashion authentication.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | complete review confirms no applicable provenance disclosure checks. |
| 1 | one of the five disclosure checks is complete across sampled eligible categories. |
| 2 | two are complete. |
| 3 | three are complete. |
| 4 | four are complete. |
| 5 | all five are complete. |
Costs and sale terms — 10 points
Five listing-path checks: item/asking price or clearly labelled enquiry pricing; applicable platform fee; delivery/collection price or clear method; import/tax treatment or clear unknown; cancellation/returns/dispute terms and eligibility. Score the mean completed count across the full sample, rounded down. Unknown costs are not zero.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | completed review demonstrates fewer than one of the five checks on average. |
| 1 | at least 1 and below 2. |
| 2 | at least 2 and below 3. |
| 3 | at least 3 and below 4. |
| 4 | at least 4 and below 5. |
| 5 | all five checks are complete on every sampled listing path. |
Language and help — 5 points
Five usability checks in the reference session: navigation labels understandable; listing text readable or working translation; help path available; error/eligibility messaging understandable; enquiry/checkout instructions readable. This is a discovery evaluation, not a general accessibility certification.
| Rating | Observable requirement |
|---|---|
| 0 | completed session confirms none of the five checks. |
| 1 | one of five. |
| 2 | two of five. |
| 3 | three of five. |
| 4 | four of five. |
| 5 | all five. |
